Doctor Veronica Hurtado Prado

OSTEOPATH & PHYSIOTHERAPIST

I was born in Medellin (Colombia) on June 19th 1977

I have been living in Italy since 2001, before coming here I got my degree in physiotherapy in 2000 at the “fundación Universitaria María Cano” at Medellin (Colombia) and in 2002 I got the degree equivalence in Pisa (Italy), so in 2004 I was able to get the three year degree in physiotherapy at the University of Pisa.

I have been working as a freelance in my cabinet at Via Pardo Roques, 8 in Pisa since 2005.

In 2007 I got my diploma as a therapist of the Mézierist Method at the “AIFI l’Associazione Italiana di Fisioterapisti Mézieristi in Rome”. I have been teaching postural gymnastics (Mézierieres Method) at the “Centro Nagual” in Pisa since 2008.

In 2012 I got my diploma in Osteopathy at “Collegio Italiano Osteopatia” in Bologna and in that year I was registered in the association of Italian osteopaths “ROI”.

In 2019 I attended a postgraduate course in Traditional Chinese Energy applied to the osteopathy at the French school “SFERE” a branch located in La Spezia.

Since 2005 I have treated more than 4000 patients and y love all of them

Now I want to tell you a little bit more about myself and my choices…

Why physiotherapy?
Looking backwards I realise I started with the aim to make my patients come back to their everyday life after a trauma and physiotherapy was my choice.

Why postural gymnastics?
My interest in postural gymnastics came from the need to make people be conscious about their own body and it’s necessary movements to fell well.

Why osteopathy?
My study of osteopathy got me to work on the body as a whole.

Why isn’t it simple to make patients understand what an osteopath does?
It is not simple to make patients understand that a backache came from a twist of the ankle and it is difficult to tell them it is not necessary to concentrate on the treatment of their back because the origin of the pain can be somewhere else.

Where did my interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine start from?
As for my interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine I can say it came from the necessity to study the body in relation with the seasonal changes with the hours or the day, with the hormonal cycle with the genetic heritage and with the environment which the body moves and lives in.
